We are the BOPSers Network

The mission of BOPSers:

To provide advice, support, mentoring opportunities and a forum for information sharing for Network members consistent with our guiding vision and principles.

To advise and make representation to the Ontario government to create an inclusive and equitable employment and service environment in which all Black employees are valued and recognized for their talents and skills and enabled to contribute to the full extent of their potential

The vision of BOPSers:

  • recognizes, values and responds to the specific needs and perspectives of African Canadians;

  • serves as a model of racial equity in employment and service for the rest of the province;

  • is a first choice for a career by Ontario’s best and brightest.

Our Guiding Principles include:

  • recognizing and understanding the history of anti-Black racism and its ongoing reality in the present (at the individual, institutional, systemic and societal levels)

  • committing to pro-actively identify and confront all forms of anti-Black racism within and beyond the OPS

  • understanding the responsibility of the OPS to take pro-active steps to eliminate all forms of racism in the organization and advance racial equality

Our Team

The Black OPS Employees Network is comprised of Black OPS employees and non-Black OPS allies with a mission to eliminate anti-Black racism within the OPS as a place of employment and as a service provider to the province. We host and facilitate a variety of events, workshops and seminars with the goal of providing information, empowering and supporting Black OPS employees.
